Neuroscience Major Selected as Buckeye Leadership Fellow

Bashir

Congratulations to neuroscience student, Humza Bashir, who was recently selected for the prestigious Buckeye Leadership Fellow (BLF) experience. Bashir is a pre-med student studying Neuroscience with a minor in Theatre from Springfield, Ohio. Growing up in Springfield he graduated from Springfield High School where he fostered his interests of theatre, environmental science, and philanthropy. At Ohio State University, Humza is a member of the Fishbowl Improvisation Comedy troupe as well as a peer leader for the Program for Advising in Scholarship and Service (PASS). As a pre-med student with an interest in Theatre, he is very invested in his research on the effect of Shakespeare in releasing the communicative blocks within children with Autism. Studying Neuroscience and Theatre, he plans on attending medical school to become an orthopedic pediatrician while also pursuing his interest in performance. Outside of the classroom, Humza enjoys playing basketball, doing anything that makes him laugh, and reading.

Over the course of the two year program, Bashir will participate in a variety of personal and professional development activities, help solve major issues at businesses and community organizations, and build meaningful relationships with Ohio State Alumni and Community leaders. Ultimately, our students learn more about who they are and what they are capable of so that they can make a positive impact on society. Our program graduates have all “hit the ground running” in part because of the experiences and relationships they have developed in the program.
